We are currently putting together an international artist residency program. More information will be available in early 2011 so please check back often.
The artist in residence will be selected by committee. They will be given housing at the Schmutz Lodge for 3 months and access to the studio space therein day and evening. During this time the artist will be required to complete a project. The Schmutz Company will also introduce the artist to our contacts throughout the city in order to assist them in finding a location to exhibit the project that they’ve completed or to exhibit previous works that relate to the current project.
The goal of the residency for the Schmutz Company is to encourage an exchange of ideas, to showcase Pittsburgh and it’s arts community, and to bring new voices and vision into the Pittsburgh arts community. While we live in a vibrant and art filled city we believe it’s essential to bring new artists in and allow them to breath fresh air into Pittsburgh’s arts community.
